SandRob – automated surface finishing

SandRob is a robotic cell for surface finishing: sanding, polishing, trimming, drilling and deburring. The solution has proven itself in aerospace, automotive, sanitaryware and design, where uniform and repeatable surface quality is required.

Operations

Dispensing (gluing), cutting, trimming and drilling, deburring and removal of casting residues, sanding and polishing.

Technical solutions

• 7-axis system – a 6-axis robot with a coordinated rotary table that reaches every area of the part without re-clamping.
• High-performance force control for sanding, polishing and deburring.
• Integrated dust extraction in the tool and the robot dress pack.
• Automatic tool change and multi-tool management.
• Offline programming with ARPP and production management with RoMaS.

For sanding and polishing medium-sized parts we recommend ABB IRB 2600 (up to 20 kg, 1.65 m); for larger parts – ABB IRB 4600.
