GrindRob – casting fettling for foundries

GrindRob is an adaptive robotic solution for grinding, cutting and deburring castings. Fast 3D scanning or probe/laser measurement lets the system adapt to the real geometry of each casting, so results stay consistent even when parts are distorted or out of tolerance.

Small and large castings

GrindRob processes castings from a few kilograms up to several tens of tonnes. The robot holds small and medium parts itself, while large castings use rotary tables, linear tracks or a mobile GrindRob version with the robot on an AGV platform.

Suitable ABB robot

For grinding castings we recommend ABB IRB 4600 (up to 60 kg, 2.05 m) and for heavy work – ABB IRB 6700.
