Optimizing MIG welding for seamless multi-station welding in PeyMar dental chair production

Customer pain points:

PeyMar, a leading dental chair manufacturer in Mexico, specializes in welding metal frames and components for its dental chairs. The company faced several challenges in its welding processes, including:

Production inefficiency: Traditional welding setups required multiple operators and machines for different workstations, creating bottlenecks and increasing cycle times.
Space constraints: The production floor had limited space, making it difficult to accommodate multiple welding stations and equipment.
High labor costs: Employing several workers for different welding tasks increased operating costs and management complexity.
Integration issues: Existing robotic solutions struggled to integrate with various accessories and welding equipment, limiting flexibility and customization.

Solution:

To solve these problems, a customized solution was developed using the Dobot CR20A collaborative robot combined with a seventh-axis linear rail and Miller welding equipment. This configuration allowed a single robotic arm to work continuously across six different welding stations, with only one employee needed to manage the process.

Key product features

Continuous operation: The robotic arm could weld one component while the operator replaced a finished part, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum output.
Space optimization: By using one robotic system across multiple stations, PeyMar made efficient use of its limited floor space and streamlined production.
Cost efficiency: Reducing the number of operators and machines required resulted in significant savings on labor and equipment maintenance.
Flexible integration: Easy integration with various accessories and equipment made it possible to tailor a solution that can adapt to future needs or changes in production requirements.
